First it's Thanksgiving and then it is the countless Holiday parties leading up to the December holidays such as Christmas and Hanukkah. The binge eating & drinking that occurs within this one month span always leaves me feeling out of shape in January. You too? Here are 5 winter weight management tips I am using this month to prevent the weight from creeping on.

  1. Increase your intake of water and tea:

Oolong tea in particular is a favorite of mine because it is filled with metabolism boosting antioxidants. In fact, it is one of the best teas to help you lose weight. Not to mention it is delicious (I am drinking a cup as I write this post). Also, drink more water. Especially with lemon & cucumber. This detoxifying drink will not only help to clear your skin & keep off the pounds but also get rid of the alcohol toxins you may accumulate!

  2. Make Healthy Soups for Dinner:

My mom makes a great lentil soup packed with a ton of vegetables! It is my favorite dinner, especially when the temperatures are cold. When making soup try to keep them vegetable based & without dairy for a lighter, healthier dinner. Click here for vegan soup recipes from Pinterest.

  3. Try A New Fitness Class:

I have never been one for spin class but recently tried it at my gym as a way to incorporate a new class into my workout routine. I have also been meaning to go into NYC to try the Rumble Boxing classes that have been popping up on my IG. What's great about trying a new class is that it is a way to exercise muscles that you may not be in your current routine. Also, if you are a fitness junkie like me, it's a fun challenge!

  4. Sugar, Sugar - It's Not So Fine:

Leave it out of your coffee and put down the sweets. You are going to be eating many different dessert cookies & pies at the Holiday feasts. So for the non-holidays try putting down the splenda & ridding of the Holiday chocolates in your desk. These little changes will help balance out the days you are binging on sweets (hopefully). While you are at it, try lessening your dairy intake as well. Your waistline will thank you!

  5. Stand up and work:

If you have a flex desk at work and have the option to stand instead of sit while typing away - than get up! Standing burns about 50 more calories an hour than sitting. It's also great for your posture. I notice it seems to help the workday pass faster when I alternate between siting & standing. It's an easy way to burn more calories, so why not try it?

I hope you have found these tips to be helpful, Happy Holidays! XX
