When to visit London + things to do

If you’re traveling to London for the first time, I highly recommend planning your trip during the holiday season. Starting in mid-November, the city comes alive with festive Christmas markets, offering a magical experience you won’t want to miss. There’s nothing quite like spending an evening strolling through these markets, sipping a warm glass of mulled wine as you take in the holiday lights and unique gifts. To make the most of your trip, here’s a list of must-see attractions and top things to do in London:

  1. Visit Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, a large annual Christmas fair with rides, games, food, drinks, and endless amounts of fun!
  2. Take a ride on the London Eye, a 30-minute observation Ferris Wheel that offers 360°views of London's landmarks.
  3. Test out your luck at the casino. London has many throughout the city!
  4. Embrace your inner King or Queen and take a picture outside the iconic Buckingham Palace. It's pretty cool to watch the guards.
  5. Attend a ballet at the Royal Opera House. The theater is much more accessible in price than in the USA!
  6. Explore Primrose Hill, a village-like area filled with Victorian terraces and pastel-coloured Regency townhouses.
