Spiritual Santa Fe

When I was 19, I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Santa Fe, New Mexico, with one of my favorite people in the world—my late grandmother, whom I lovingly called Mima. Santa Fe remains one of the most special and spiritual places I’ve ever visited. The dirt roads winding toward art galleries, the talented artists lining the streets with their breathtaking creations, the centuries-old churches, and the city’s rich historic culture—it all felt like a dream. Both Mima and I, as creative souls, were completely captivated by the vibrant artistry and unique charm of this magical city. Although I haven’t been back since that unforgettable trip, I hold onto the hope of returning one day with my grandmother present in spirit. Over the years, I’ve done a lot of research to plan for a future visit, and I’d love to share my insights with you in hopes of inspiring your own journey to this extraordinary destination.

PS. I apologize for the image quality. These images were taken on my trip with my grandmother 13 years ago. I wanted to use my own photography instead of stock photos to keep the article personal and authentic.

Sight Seeing in Santa Fe

I was captivated by the city's incredible art scene and its rich, historic culture. Here are some must-visit spots you won’t want to miss:

  • Santa Fe Plaza: Located in the heart of the city, here you will find festivals, markets, and live music.
  • Canyon Road: My grandmother and I loved walking this. There are over 100 galleries, all within a half mile! It is incredible.
  • Georgia O'Keeffe Museum: Dedicated to the 'Mother of American Modernism,' this museum houses an extensive collection of O'Keeffe's paintings, drawings, and sculptures.
  • San Miguel Chapel: The oldest church in the United States! I remember parts of the chapel being restored during our visit.
  • Loretto Chapel: Famous for its "Miraculous Staircase," this historic chapel features a spiral staircase with no visible means of support, intriguing both architects and visitors alike.
